Default windows media player takes much of the cpu

Hi everyone

Sometimes when I play music with media player it occupies most of my cpu time %60, %70. Sometimes it takes a while, it starts like everything is alright and then after some time my computer gets really slow again.

I used spybot, avg antispyware, super antispyware, avg antivirus but couldnt fix it. So I formatted my hard disk with my recovery disk hoping that everything will be fine afterwards but, it is still the same. My recovery disks can not have any virus or spyware on them because I created the recovery disks right after I bought the computer, And I formatted it before because of another problem with these same disks and it was alright then. I cant understand why this is happenening.

Once media player takes my cpu, I close the media player, but then other software such as firefox, or even explorer.exe takes up my cpu time.

Anything will help, thanks

If you have all of your media (vids, music) in one folder, try moving them to the correct folders in your user profile..i.e; music to "My Music" and vids to "My Videos".

Also, have you downloaded/installed any codecs recently?

If this has happened recently, try a system restore to a time before you experienced the issue.

are you viewing the visulaizer while listening? If so, that would be why. Also, what processor are you using? WMP Visualizer takes up a lot of CPU Time.

I did a system restore and I even formatted my computer installed windows again from recovery disks that I produced right after I bought the PC. But the problem is stil going on, I dont think it is because of the visualisations or the location of the music because they were always the same, never changed.

It is not only windows media player that takes my cpu. This high cpu usually starts after I turn WMP on , but then if firefox is open then it uses up my cpu or explorer otherwise.

thanks for helps and ideas until now
