Default Mouse Issues?

Here's my problem in a nutshell:
I play counter-strike (online FPS), and the mouse that I have is optical, but I don't like the feel of it. I decided that i liked the way my mac mouse moved, and so I plugged it into the USB of my PC. The mac mouse wouldn't move, so I unplugged it and put the original one back in. Immediately afterwards, the mouse was trapped in the top left corner (where it has remained for the past couple of days). The cursor will move to each corner I think, seeing as if I move it down I can see the yellow box come up over the start bar.

I've tried uninstalling the device, I've unplugged everything, rebooted and then plugged it all back in. Still nothing.

Basically I'm at wit's end right now can somebody PLEASE give me an answer.

Howdy saunders34 and welcome to PCHF..

Can you do me a favor and go to your device manager and let me know if there is any yellow marks in there.

To get to your device manager

Right click My Computer
Click on Manage
Click on Device Manager

A mac mouse will work on a Windows pc but it may need a driver..

merlin, thanks for the advice, but the problem is that I can't move my mouse period so I cannot right click my computer. I did all of the troubleshooting and everything by using tab, the arrow keys and enter.

unless you know of a way to right click an icon without a mouse? I know that with macs where there is only one button (unless you change the settings) when you hold control its the same as right clicking...is there something similar for PCs?

Hi saunders....with a Windows keyboard you can perform a "right click" by pressing the key between the right hand CTRL and ALT keys.

Also, instead of right clicking on my computer, you can hold the Windows key and press the pause key to open up your computer properties....then you can use the Tab key to navigate to the Hardware tab and open up your device manager.

From there you could try uninstalling any entries pertaining to the mouse which will be under both "mice and other pointing devices" and "human interface devices"
