Gentlemen,

Need some knowledge please. a friend's computer with Win XP Home periodically gives her a warning that she has over 500 fonts on her computer and things may not display properly.

We checked her Fonts file and it show a total of 961 Fonts installed. My own computer(with Win XP Home) only shows 196 fonts.

Some of her Font icons have the little shortcut arrow on them.

Is this warning a serious problem?

May we simply delete the shortcut icons for a start?

May we delete 561+ fonts to get her back under 500?

Appreciate any advice you may have for us.

Yes you could delete the "shortcut"fonts this will bring it down a little.
Make sure she does not have auto download fonts in her (if she is using) internet explorer internet options.

Thanks for your help. She will delete the shortcut font icons. However, this will not remove very many font icons.

We checked under Internet Explorer's Internet Options under the Advanced Tab and did not find a line for auto download for fonts.

1. How exactly would it be worded?

2. Is the Advanced Tab where we should be looking?
