Ouch, hehe, OK, I'm really not suprised your PC is crashing.
The maximum temperature of a Pentium D 2.8ghz is 63°C!!! As I mentioned earlier, the other temperatures are looking pritty high to. This risk of a HDD crash doubles at 40°c. Your only a degree away on both accounts. The most important thing you need to look at is adding some additional PC cooling, preferably an intake fan at the front of the PC to bring in the cool air, and a fan at the back to get rid of the hot air. Make sure the cables inside are the PC tucked away and not obstructing any air flow. Make sure there are no dust obstructing the fans and vents, and there is a clear exit behind each of these. Make sure the PC is away from any heat source. I had a user just recently that had overheating issues, and the PC was pushed up against a radiator lol. |

Thanks for your reply. I actually have the side case off at the moment and my present temps are as per the attached.

No crashing since fruit? Looks better, not ideal temperatures but should keep you away from their max as long as your not gaming or anything. Probably best to keep side panel open until you can get some extra cooling. Not a good perminent solution though eh?

Not good no. Its intermittent so I dont know if this has solved it.
Because of the work I do I need something reliable so I have taken the plunge and I have just bought a computer from Dell, fingers crossed it's a good one and will be reliable and I will see if my mum wants this one but will suggest cooling equipment. Thanks very much for the help, maybe it's overuse that has caused it!!!!!! |
