In the last few weeks I have noticed that everytime I turn on my computer it makes me choose F1 to continue or another to enter set up.
Anyone know what caused this and how to fix this.
System restore was not an option when it first started or I would have tried that.
Thanks,
parmour

Hi welcome to PCHF
the bios battery has gone flat in the PC so it can't rember the bios setting this is why you have to do the F1 thing. You need to get a cr2032 batter they sell them at most places that have batteries there a button batery. once fitted it will remember the settings and be fixed

If so, then madmatt2006 has a good suggestion. The battery saves the BIOS settings, which control how the system starts up. It could be that your BIOS simply needs to be reset, which can be done through the System Setup screens. To get to those you use the <F2> option, the other one you would be getting with those messages. Did you try a new battery, and if so, did it help? Let me know if there is anything else I can do to help. Or if you want more information about how to reset the BIOS let me know which model of system you have and I'll see what else we can do to resolve the problem. Thanks MADMATT and Todd,
I will get a new battery and try that. The battery will be on the motherboard. Right? Thanks, Parmour |

Hi,
Yes, the battery is on the motherboard. Easiest way to find it would be to go to our support site, Dell Support - Technical Support, Drivers & Downloads, Troubleshooting, Product Manuals and Order Status, and click on the link for user manuals. Select the one for your model and there will be diagrams of the motherboard that you can take a look at to find the battery. Hope it works. Let me know if you have any other problems. Todd |
