ON my own computer, I am having trouble logging on to xp. When I restart computer, it logs me on and then right back off like one second later. Any suggestions.
Hi welcome to PCHF will it let you boot in safe mode buy taping the F8 key at post boot and selecting safe mode? If it will we should be able to sort it out
if you can get in via that method do a sysem restore to a time before you had the problem to see if it fixes your problem
.
Click Start.
2.
Point to All Programs.
3.
Point to Accessories.
4.
Point to System Tools.
5.
Click System Restore.
6.
Follow the instructions on the wizard.
Safe Mode still brings up loggon and when you click a user or administrator, it says Loading your personal settings... then it immediately says Saving personal settings.....
Any other suggestions?
I have found in this case your best option is to do a repair install of the windows
Configure your computer to start from the CD-ROM drive. For more information about how to do this, refer to your computer's documentation or contact your computer manufacturer. Then insert your Windows XP Setup CD, and restart your computer.
1.
When the Press any key to boot from CD message is displayed on your screen, press a key to start your computer from the Windows XP CD.
2.
Press ENTER when you see the message To setup Windows XP now, and then press ENTER displayed on the Welcome to Setup screen.
3.
Do not choose the option to press R to use the Recovery Console.
4.
In the Windows XP Licensing Agreement, press F8 to agree to the license agreement.
5.
Make sure that your current installation of Windows XP is selected in the box, and then press R to repair Windows XP.
6.
Follow the instructions on the screen to complete Setup.
