Default Reformatted computer/resolution

Hi all, appreciate any words to lead me on the right path

i just recently reformatted the computer, got rid of everything. Now theres a problem with screen resolution (i think it's a common problem as i googled and tons of this stuff came up)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A & B = basically can't change resolution from 640 X 480

& colour quality from "medium 16 bit"

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Also this problem. When I go into System >>> Hardware Tab >>> Device Manager

You see ? marks next to

- Other Devices?
I_ Ethernet Controller?
I_ Multimedia Audio Controller?
I_ SM Bus Controller?
I_ Universal Serial Bus (USB) Controller?
I_ Video Controller (VGA Compatible)?

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Any leads on what to do to change the resolution

Many thanks for any input

hey there
You have not installed your vedio drivers after finishing windows setup. Kindly load them from the motherboard cd. Not only have you not loaded vedio drivers but also audio, network, usb and system bus. They are all on same cd.

You need to load the device driver for your video card (and also the drivers for the other devices).

So the first step is to determine what video card you have!

Do you have any paperwork/discs from when you first got the PC?

Hello whatsthisthen and welcome to PCHF!

When you reformat a pc and reinstall its operating system, you need to install the drivers for your hardware such as you video card as the two guys have mentioned above me.

What kind of video card do you have? If it is built into the motherboard, pls give me your motherboard specification.

If you still have the driver CD that came with your motherboard, just load it up into your pc and try install the drivers for your hardware.

The devices you see marked under "Other Devices"
I_ Ethernet Controller?
I_ Multimedia Audio Controller?
I_ SM Bus Controller?
I_ Universal Serial Bus (USB) Controller?
I_ Video Controller (VGA Compatible)?

Are all hardware which when you formated your computer you wiped everything
including the drivers for all of your hardware. as stated in a reply above you
should have a cd with all your preinstalled setting on which you can install and
restore your computer to its original configerationg ( Note; you may even have
to reinstall windows again to restore to factory in some cases, not all)

If you do not have a driver disk; Dont worry as you can simply go to the
website of the manufacturer of your computer, I,e, HP, IPaq, Hewlet Packered
Etc. Simply find the support page on your manufacturers website then commence
select your model from a list of options or by simply entering the model number
of your Pc, Laptop directly into a product search bar.

Hope that helped someone somewhere
