Default Downloaded applications don't appear in My Docs

I've downloaded a firewall using Firefox's Download Manager. Download went fine. When I checked my destination file, it did not appear there!

I deleted the download that was in the Download Mgr and started a fresh download. Then the Download Mgr asked if I wanted to OVERWRITE the firewall file that it was seeing in the destination file in My Docs!

I went back into the destination file, but I couldn't see it. I even performed a Search. Prior to this I had downloaded a different firewall. Never found that one either.

Well, someone suggested I change my settings to show all Hidden files and gave me a link on how to do that. It was simple to do, but changing the settings in the Folder file didn't reveal any of the downloads either.

I don't think Firefox or it's Download Manager is the problem; it's a Windows problem. I've never had problems with downloads before and applications, utilities and other whatnot I've downloaded has always worked. Nothing like this has never happened before.

I thought I'd look into clearing the "history" of Firefox's Download Manager. There was one file sitting in it and that was the last firewall I downloaded. Now there's a place on the Download Manager screen that says "All files downloaded to". The name of my destination file is in that place. When I put my cursor on it, the note reads, "Show This folder". I clicked on it and the destination file opens. And guess what? The screen that comes up seems to be the familiar screen you see when you open My Docs. But this time, it showed the firewall as well as the other file I downloaded! BOTH files ARE there! But only through the Download Manager in Firefox can they be displayed! NOT if I go into My Docs and locate the destination folder.

Help! I think I've entered the Twilight Zone. . . Do you know what the heck's wrong??!!

Hey there and welcome to PCHF,

Your download directory is most likely set wrong, happened to me once, it switched to a different user on the computer instead of mine. Just go to Options > and select a new download directory, I recommend something like Desktop, or My Documents
