You may notice that some of the icons are missing and are replaced by the same "picture". Could anyone advise me what to do? (Besides manually changing back everything. )

Hey there, do the icons actually still work? If so and they're just not showing an icon you could try using TweakUI to rebuild the icon cache.

Download TweakUI from here (down the right side, make sure you select TweakUI and not TweakUI for Itanium) when installed run it and in the navigation tree down the left side there is a repair section, select "Rebuild icons" from the drop down and then click Repair.
