Unhappy Chkdsk not working on restart

Hi all,

After uninstalling Nero Essentials 6, it asked me to restart, so I kindly obliged. Windows then got stuck on the loading screen, but having encountered this problem before, I turned the computer off and back on and started windows in safe mode.

I then ran cmd and typed chkdsk c: /f. It then asked me if I wish to check upon restart as it was currently 'in use'. This so far was standard so I typed in y and hit enter.

I then restarted, but to my dismay it got stuck on the loading screen again.

So then I proceeded to re-enter safe mode and decided to run chkdsk in read only mode to see if there were any bugs.

This is the result:

CHKDSK discovered free space marked as allocated in the volume bitmap.
Windows found problems with the file system.

It then asked me to run /f to fix the problem, of which I have already tried.#

Sometimes when I try to boot it up in safe mode it does alot of hard drive activity then restarts without booting into safe mode.

What is going on? Why wont chkdsk run after restarting? Please help, this is annoying.

Thanks for your time.

David

Hi again,

Did you try running scandisk whilst in Windows safe mode - then re-booting?
