Hey there and welcome to PCHF,

Have you checked if your CD drives are properly plugged in? Do you have a spare IDE cable you can replace the current one with to test if the cable didn't suddenly decide to go bad (I've had it happen to me a few times for no apparent reason)?

The only spare IDE cable I have is for hard drives. I did find a small hole in the IDE cable, about a1/4 inch from the edge, near the end that connects to the motherboard. Could this be the problem? Both drives stopped reconizing dvd/cd at the same time. Also, can you buy just the IDE cable for cd/dvd drives?
