Default Folders not accessible

Friends PC fails to boot so hooked the HD up to my PC (XP Home) to get his critical files off before reinstalling windows etc.

However when trying to get the data from the sub-folders in his folder get the message:
E:\Documents & Settings\phil (dad)\My Documents is not accessible - Access denied. (see attached)

This is the same for all items in that folder (as well as another user Mel) however users Mason & Molly all available

Any thoughts?

Hi,

Firstly, you will need to be logged in as Administrator to get access to that information. If that doesn't work straight off, you will need to "take ownership" of those folders whilst logged in as Admin by following this procedure: How to take ownership of a file or folder in Windows XP

Thanks that worked.

Transferring 65 Gb takes some time & then it hits a file which it can't touch (perfidata???) & I have to start again.
So how can I copy everthing without errors stopping the transfer?
