no, they store information in your registry (even when u uninstall they stay there) so that when u uninstall the program (after the trial has expired) and try to reinstall it, the program will look in ur registry to see if u have had it previously installed...
this is so that you don't use the trial more than once...

only way to remove it is to completely re-install windows (like pops said)

So i won't say its classed as spyware...
