Exclamation Trouble writing files to External Hard Drive

I have a new Seagate. I plug in my external hard drive and bring up the external hard drive manager. I select the hard drive. Then I click the Backup tab.

I choose to do a custom backup.

I want to backup all of My Documents so I select it and I click next.

I choose to back up all file types and click next.

I choose the time; I always set the time 5 minutes from the currnt time so it will do the backup soon (for instance, if it were 1:35 PM, I would scedule the backup for 1:40 PM) and I click next.

According the the user guide, this is the next window that I'm SUPPOSED to get but I NEVER do.

Instead of getting the window above like the manual says, I get this window just like the one that I started off with.

I checked my "Backup Log" to see if maybe the program still did the back up anyway, but it didn't.

I can only get up to the point shown in the 5th picture, but no further. When I go to "Delete Backup Plans" there are none scheduled for me to delete.

Hi Qerely, have you tried uninstaling and reinstalling the backup software? What is the model of your seagate hard drive?

Daft as this may sound, please check that the Task Scheduler service is started and set to automatic.

Never mind. I have it now because Windows OneCare did it for me.
