Default Sysinternals tool?

May i know if using sysinternal tools would aid is obtaining information, about how my computer hangs? If so how do i go about using sysinternal tools to help me troubleshoot whatever the root of the problem is? The scenario that i am faced with, is whenever i use some heavy intense utilizing application etc adobe, office 2007. My computer seems to falter under even though i have 1Gb of ram with Win XP pro. It is a pain the ***, whenever i am working on my work suddenly my computer freezes up on me. I would really like to put an end to all this, thus would greatly appreciate any advice given thank you.

Also Ram is not the whole equation-- what do you have for a processor/mobo...
and what exactly are you doing with Adobe--(Adobe itself is a massive resource hog --in my opinion).
The services guide here could help you to trim XP's unnecessary eye-candy/background services

You could use process explorer-- to see what is running-- and how much RAM/CPU cycles it is using...
