Dual boot Winxp media center and Winxp Home on seperate hard disks

I can't quite figure out how to get this to work properly. Both disks are SATA. The media center HDD is on SATA channel 1and the XP home HDD is on SATA channel 5.

I've tried modifying the boot.ini file on both OS's with no luck.

Any help would be appreciated!

Hi fixittech, welcome to the PCHF.

Can you please tell me which is your primary hard drive in the bios?
This will be the only drive that you need to change the boot.ini file on, and you'll need it to look like the following...

[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOW S
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Micro soft Windows XP MCE" /fastdetect
multi(0)disk(4)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Micro soft Windows XP Home" /fastdetect
it should look similar at any rate

Notice the disk(x) number...

Hi! thanks for the reply.

The default HDD is the media center disk, and I modified the boot.ini as you stated, but still recieved the default error message saying it could not find the hdd/boot partition.

I checked the bios and my second HDD is on sata channel 5. I modified the boot.ini to point to disk(5) but still no luck, what could I be missing?
