[Fixed] Sound (card) Advice?
Hello. I just bought a pallet full of Dell Dimension 2400s at a University auction. I'm trying to test them to make sure all is good so I can sell them. I have a hard drive with Windows XP installed on it that I've been putting in each computer to boot it up and make sure its working properly. The problem I'm having, is that there is no sound card showing up on any of the computers, and there is obviously an onboard sound card... I can't update the driver, because the card is not being recognized. Or is it? When I look in Control Panel> System> Device Manager> Sound, Video, and Game Controllers, the list includes : Audio Codecs, Legacy audio Drivers, Media Control Devices, Etc. But none of these seem to be the sound card. there is also in Device Manager listed "Multimedia Audio Controller" but it has a big yellow question mark next to it, indicating there is a problem with the device. How do I get the computer to recognize my sound card and update the driver if neccessary to enable the sound? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Ive been messing with this for days, and I just can't figure it out.
