I checked mine, to verify, and low and behold it was set at ******* 0. I have 512K on each cpu , for a total of 1024K (1MEG) of L2 Cache....I upped my L2 cache to what it is, instant 15FPS boost in-game, and holy ******* speedy applications now.

Download CPU-Z http://www.cpuid.com/download/cpu-z-142.zip
Install CPU-Z , Run CPU-Z
Find your TOTAL L2 Cache 512 x 2 1M x 4 ...Whatever it is, and take note of it.
Create a System Restore point!
Open up Registry Editor : Start >> Run >> [TYPE] "regedit" [ENTER]
Navigate to:
Hkey_Local_Machine >> System >> CurrentControlSet >> Control >> Session Manager >> Memory Management
In the right pain (DWORD VALUES) Scroll find this entry, and right click it, then goto Modify.
SecondLevelDataCache
From here you *MUST* change it from hexidecimal to decimal value. **OR YOUR SYSTEM WILL NOT BOOT**
Now in the input area, type in the amount of L2 Cache you have of which you found from cpuz.
Here are some default values:
P4 Prescott - 1024
AthlonXP Barton - 512
Athlon64 NewCastle - 512
Athlon64 ClawHammer - 1024
AthlonFX - 1024
Sempron - 256
Close registry editor, then reboot.
If you cannot reboot, press F8 on startup, and use last known good configuration. You may have used an incorrect value for your L2.
Again DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK!.
