Default How do I get Win XP to recognise my MIDI connection?

I have Cubase SX running on my XP machine, and I have a MIDI keyboard connected up to my PC via a MIDI to USB cable. When I connect it to the PC, it says it doesn't recognize the new hardware, which I kind of expected. I don't have any kind of drivers or anything, so how could I go about getting the PC to recognize that it's a MIDI connection? Thanks

Oye

Got any model number for that USB cable? Maybe if you could give me your keyboard's model number too, I might be able to come up with something

Hello again! I'm afraid I can't find a model number for the MIDI-USB cable, there's a serial number but that's it, sorry. The keyboard is a very old Yamaha PSR-84. Yes I know, I may have to get a new cable and MIDI keyboard

I've found the MIDI-USB cable (which I bought in a shop) on a website, but I don't know if I'm ok putting a link here or not. It doesn't show the model number though because it's an auction site (can you guess what it might be?). But it does show a picture of it...I'm trying to find it in other places now. Oh yeah and the weird thing is it claims that it's plug and play, no driver required.

Yeah that works fine, thanks! The only problem I'm getting now is a slight delay between the MIDI signal going into Cubase and the note actually sounding. I've had this problem in college and have fixed it by going to Devices->Device Setup->VST Multitrack and changing the ASIO driver so that the latencies match, but that doesn't seem to be fixing it here at home. Does anyone here know anything about this? I wonder if this problem might be more at home in another forum section maybe...

Glad it worked but with the delay problem I don't know why what do you have hooked up to the MIDI? so the delay is between the MIDI device and the Cubase software?
