this is the error message i have suddenly started getting when trying to boot my laptop and sought help from various forums.
i have tried to rebuild the file as instructed by the help section from the microsoft website using the recovery console and typing bootcfg /rebuild. however this only told me that it failed to be successfull due to a possible corrupt file system that prevents bootcfg from scanning.
i then used chkdsk as instructed to and after i was told everything appeared good but i could check anyway using chkdsk /p.
this also did not find anything so i do not know what to do now! i have tried two different windows xp CDs and do not know what to do next. i really wish to avoid losing all my work obviously by reinstalling XP. if anyone could help id be very grateful.
