Question Memory Upgrade= Freq Freezing??? (heLp)

Hey there,

I'm running XP, and upgraded my pc from 1gb to 2gb of ram. The PC recognizes the new ram but I am getting random freezing every so often that I did not recieve prior.

I have 4 ram slots, two are black & two are blue. One of each is paired together. Now the the new memory I upgraded with is the same as what was already in use on the PC. Put the new stick next to the old stick but they are not the same color.I wonder if it has anything to do with the placement of the ram stick on the motherboard?

I have recently run spyware, antivirus,pc optimize & defrag but no improvments/problems.

Hello and welcome to PCHF

Go to the following site, put in your information and it will tell you if you need to install in pairs and what type of ram to use. My guess would be to install the sticks in the black slots as the others may be for dual channel

Thanks for the program link. However it only told of my pc specfications.

Any tips as to why my PC might be randomly freezing? I was thinking about upgrading to a dual core processor, I wonder if this processor is just getting slow and therefore freezes? AMD 3200 (939 socket)
