Hi everyone. I have a wierd problem that I cant figure out, it is making me insane. Thank you for your help in advance.
I boot up after work today and this is what I see...
Intel Boot Agent v4.0.17
Intel Base Code PXE - 2.0 (build 083)
Client MAC ADDR: 00 03 47 C0 1B EA
GUID: 703A26E9-A7D1-11D5-BOD5-001083FDFE8A
PXE-E53: No boot filename received
PXE-MOF: Exiting Intel PXE ROM
Boot Failure: System Halted
Ok, wtf is this boot agent thing and why is my computer bypassing normal boot procedure? And what about PXE, what does that mean? I am just totally confused, it appears that I have no boot file? I have really good virus protection, Kaspersky. I haven't had one problem since I got it a year ago. And my computer worked just fine this morning. But, I seem to remember this very same thing happening some time ago, and I never investigated it because the problem fixed itself the next day (love that...). I am hoping the same will happen this time, but I still want to find out what it means. I hate being at the whims of whatever mood my computer happens to be in that day, lol.
If anyone out there knows the answer to my dilema, I would be eternally grateful! Thank you so much for reading!
J

Hi Solid74
it sounds like it has reverted to trying to boot off the network card for some reason. If you go in to the bios and check the boot order. It should be set to boot off the hard drive.

Thanks for the quick help!!! I will check it now... so if its booting wierd like that and preventing me from getting to windows like it is now, you're saying to check BIOS and it will be set some other way than off the HD, and then to change it back, right? I never noticed a network card option in the boot order, wierd! So, do you know what could be causing this, and why it "fixed" itself before?
Sorry for all the extra questions lol Thanks! J |

Cool, thanks! I dunno how to check the battery level tho, and my modem is plugged into my network port. What does it mean if I have a low, but not dead battery?
Thanks again! J |

You will need a multi meter to test it there quiet cheap to replace it will be cr-3032. If it's flat bios setting will go to factory defaults and the date and time will be wrong.
