Hey there,
I've so far followed all the right steps to reinstall XP (just the Windows files), but i'm stuck at the moment because i'm being asked to remove the XP CD because files are needed from the 'Nvidia Network Bus Installation Disc 1.' I have all the cds that came with my computer, both the motherboard and MSI Nvidia cds have not worked. I have the option to cancel the installation of the 'Nvidia Network etc etc.' but when i do the setup doesnt continue and my screen goes black and unresponsive. Ive looked around the internet and there doesnt seem to be a decisive answer. At the moment i'm stuck with a big paperweight.
What am i actually needing?
Any help would be much appreciated!
Thanks in advance.
Specs: Athlon 4600+, 2 GB Ram, Nvidia 7950GX2, M2n Sli-Deluxe Motherboard, XP Home Edition.

Most times the mobo cd is not needed when a Repair Install is performed.
What is showing in t he Device Manager? See if this link helps ASUSTeK Computer Inc.-Support-

I can't get into any form of Windows. Upon eveyr restart it goes to the Windoes Repair Screen and says its 39 minutes until Windows is installed. 34 minutes in it asks me for the Nvidia Network Bus Drivers and i can't install them as stated. It won't let me go any further. I can't check Device Manager for this reason and the Asus drivers don't help as they are all inside Windows installations.

My bad, I misunderstood you
![]() Can you not cancel out of that? I have seen this before and reguardless of what cd you place in the rom it doesnt help but you can cancel out of it and continue the install

Cancelling out of the install of the drivers or whatever, as i mentioned before causes the monitor to kind of switch off after a few minutes - it's still on, but the screen goes black and the computer doesnt seem to do anythhing process wise.

Looks like you will need to format and reinstall instead of trying a repair install.

I'm no expert so can only comment on my own experience, which confirms the advice from geekgirl. I found that if the reinstall "stalls" you haven't much of an option other than to do a fresh install, delete old partions, and start from scratch with new partion(s) and slow reformat. it did wonders for my old PC.
