Default computer sometimes freezes when Idling

Hi,

Sometimes when i idle my computer, whether it's twenty minutes, or 8 hours, I may come back, and the computer is completely locked up.

It it wasn't long at all, I can see my desktop but my mouse, keyboard, or shut-down button doesn't respond.

Or if it was for a while, my monitor would be blank, and It won't wake up.

This has been happening for a few months now, and i don't know what is doing this.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Is this a laptop or desktop?
What are your Power Options set too?

it's a desktop computer.

I'm guessing that you mean power schemes from the power options box.

It says:
Turn off monitor : 15 minutes
Turn off hard-disks : never
System standby : 1 hour
system hibernates : never

There isn't much more in the power options box, so if that's not what you were looking for, can you tell me where to look?

Check the error messages by looking in the Event Viewer (Start->Settings->Control Panel->Administrative Tools->Event Viewer). This may help us pinpoint the issue.

Change the system standby to never. Make sure Hibernate is not checked
