Hey, I'm having alot of trouble with my PC lately.. It is mostly down to either the Powerpack or the CD/DVD driver in my computer. Basically, every time I insert any type of disk into my computer it starts making a buzzing noise and then shuts down after about 5 seconds, When I say shut down I mean it all goes off like it has been turned off at the mains but the lights on the front of the computer still stay on *CONFUSED!*. It probably would be easy to buy new software etc. but I have only had my computer for around 8 months now and would like to find an alternative way round this problem. Also sometimes my when my computer turns on it starts making the buzzing noise for no reason at all and then eventually restarts itself, this means sometimes it takes around 3 or 4 attemps to actually start up my computer. I am not very good with computers, but post back or whatever if you have any ideas and I'll let my someone else have a look at my computer. Cheers.

Is it:
Desktop or Laptop?
What Version of Windows ? XP? Vista?
What is the Make & Model of the PC ?
Is it new or used ?

From what you describe -- buying software would likely be a waste-- it sounds like a hardware problem. When you attempt to boot and it takes 3-4 tries are there any eroor messages --or blue-screens visible ?
