Unhappy [Answered] Desperate!

Hi, can anyone please please help. I am fixing a friend's pc and have a major prob. After installing Avast and doing a boot time scan, it showed up lots of viruses, I chose to delete them all and now pc won't start, when I went back to pc, it was on a black screen, i have tried switching on and off and pressing F1 and F8 n startup but to no avail, I really really hope someone can help. Thanks so much

Hi there and welcome to PCHF, when you switch on the PC, are you tapping F8?

Hello Rebscott Welcome to PCHF

I just posted yesterday to someone whom I thought their best choice would be a repair install of Windows XP. In your case, if you can't even get into Safe Mode, then it would probably just be easiest to do a repair install. I posted some good instructions for this person in this thread - http://www.pchelpforum.com/windows-x...tem-error.html

A repair install is usually a last resort method, but like I said, if you can't even get into safe mode, then it's probably going to save you time. Give that thread a read.

EDIT - I just noticed your post, if you're not even getting any video, it is probably a hardware issue.

Hope that helps!
