Default broken xp disc

Hello all ive been browsing the web lookin for a solution and thought
id make a post on here to see if anyone has any ideas.
Right my dilema is this.....
Ive a copy of windows xp home edition made by fujitsu seimens as is my pc.
Its about 4 yrs old or more now and i had to install the sp2 onto my system when it came about.
I got tired of waiting for the sp2 pack to download eachtime i reformatted my pc
(as i try and format it every so many months just to make sure its running smoothly)
but it was still annoying waiting for all the sp2 pack to download so i somewhere
read a tutorial on making a new xp disc with the sp2 pack installed.

I managed to make this disc and have used it ever since when reinstalling but ..an this is the problem ...its somehow got damaged and wont read properly.
After fighting with it to work i decided to use my old disc without the service pack 2 thinking id just download it as b4 ...but ....this disc won't work either.

So basically ive got 2 legal discs one with service pack 2 and one without that dont actually work right.
Yesterday i spent a few hrs tryin to install it ..what i ended up doing was ...
I formatted the hd with one of the discs but when coping the instalation files ...i had a nightmare but managed to copy all the instalation files by ..when it said the error it couldnt copy the file hit enter to try again or skip...i swapped to the other disc and luckily it copied the files it couldnt copy on the other disc ...are ya with me so far ? lol
Anyhow i managed to get all the instalation files and it went into the next stage of installing windows and then it got me .....the cicle redundency error (ok ive spelt it wrong)
but you know what i mean ......
Anyhow i guess basically my question is this ....
can i do anything or make another disc with the bits that i have instead of buying another copy of xp...or continue to use this dodgy one ive had from a friend which im not really happy about but its my only option to get online to try and find a solution.
Ive rang fujitsu seimens an was told id either have to buy a new disc or borow a friends ...but it would need to be a fujitsu seimens disc not just an xp home one.
So is there any way i can maybe rip the files from eachdisc and then fix it all
make another disc ?
any helps appreciated
Que

Default Re: broken xp disc

hello ive realised ...well i took my discs to a friends to see if they would work on his pc and they seemed to work fine...so i thought it must be a problem with my rom reading the discs.
Ive borrowed the rom from my friend that read the disc and this is the new problem

when i turn the pc on it dosnt get past the windows loading screen its just continuosly loading up.
So ive been to another friend who has a few laying around and tried them all and none of the roms
one is a cd writer ..ones a dvd rom and ones just a cd one...none of these roms seem to work on
my pc there working asing opening an closing if i click open on the roms yet once past the post screen and loading windows it simply dosnt budge.

Now would i be able to take out my hardrive ..stick it into a friends pc format it and install my xp onto it that way and stick it back into my tower ??

And may i just add ive got a normal dvd rom that dose work but not to good and wont read the disc
properly .....if anyone has any ideas over this cus im totally baffled

Hello and thanks for the welcome.
It is set to boot off the cd yes ...but my problem isnt really about the disc booting up its just something strange thats happened to my rom ...its connected correctly and boots up discs ok but some discs it wont read others it will ..tempermental ...but my xp disc it wont run so ive tried using a few differnt roms and my pc will boot up ..go past the option for post screen n bios ..then it says loading windows pro..and i have the little loading line going along the bottom .....usually this is there for a few moments then its welcome to windows and my screen appears ...but this isnt the case when im using any other rom ...im just forever stuck on the windows loadin screen watchin the little bar ..and it dose move asif its loading it just never dose.

Are the hard disk and CD/DVD drive on seperate IDE cable or sharing the same IDE cable?
