Default CD RW drives

i got a dell dimension 9150 7900 GS 256mb 2 gb ram, ok heres my problemon friday i bought age of empires 3 and sims 2 night life, now the strange thing is. when i put age of empires disc 1 in it loads up fine and it gets to the part of the installation when it says insert disc 2 now thats the problem when i insert disc two my computer just doesnt seem to reconise its in the drive, if i click my D drive it says please insert disc, ive tried taking out nad putting it back in about 30 timesbutnothing. my computer just flshes its lights to say that its reading a disc then it just stops, and i got the same problem with sims 2 night life expansion disc 1 doesnt seem to want to install or be reconised but disc 2 does. i tried both games in my laptop and they worked fine so im thinking maybe its somthing to do with my cd drive or settings? but it makes no sence why it would read some disc but not read others and they are both brandnew games. i also tried other games that ivehad for quite some time, Sims 2, Battlefield 2, Operation flashpoint, they all worked fine. i also tried the disc on my laptop and they worked fine so it cant be the disc,

This is rather strange, though I believe I've seen a similar problem before (then again, what haven't we seen here?).

Please go to Start -> Run, and run devmgmt.msc. This will launch Device Manager. See if any items (mainly looking for your CD drive here) have a yellow ! next to them.
