Yes, as long as the PC receives power, as there is power going to your motherboard even when your PC is turned off. The motherboard itself is connected to the power switch which tells the motherboard that you wish to start your PC. Older PC's were connected directly to the power supply. Keeping your PC plugged into the mains may be a temporary solution until you resolve your battery/motherboard issue.

JBAT is normally the one you would use to clear your CMOS, not sure what one you've been using until now? Is there a jumper on it?

There are two jumpers. one for the cmos and the other is just beside it.
It's strange but it seems that there is no power from the battery going to the mobo to keep the cmos data.

I would totally agree Zelf. About the jumper question, sorry, I meant, the one marked JBAT, is there physically a jumper covering two of the three pins? And can you tell me what the other is labelled?

Yes there is a jumper connecting 2 out of three pins. Ok, i get it now, the JBAT jumper is the one which clears the CMOS. The other jumper beside the JBAT is called JP1 which locks and unlocks the CPU or something.

That would rule out any chance of motherboard fix (yourself), is the motherboard still under warranty?

No, the warranty has expired a year ago. Anyway, I'm getting a new CPU and MoBo when I have money.
Keeping the plug in the wall temporarily solves this problem.
