Default [Resolved] xp fax problem

we have a 2003 server with fax modems set up on it... it can send and receive faxes fine. our office is mostly xp machines but we have two 2000 machines.

when i click to send a fax from an xp machine nothing happens, i have the local fax service set up and am allready connected to the fax on the server...

if i send a fax from the 2000 machines it works fine.

is there something in xp sp2 that blocks you from network faxing?

The outgoing routing rule is not valid because it cannot find a valid device. The outgoing faxes that use this rule will not be routed. Verify that the targeted device or devices (if routed to a group of devices) is connected and installed correctly, and turned on. If routed to a group, verify that the group is configured correctly. if anyone else has this problem, here is the solution:

you have to install the fax service with an xp sp2 cd, then go into printers and faxes and click add local fax machine, then go back into add/remove programs, add windows components and uncheck fax to uninstall it and restart

go back and install the fax service but this time use an xp cd with service pack 1

it should work after that
