Default System boot failure from HDD

Hello everyone.
Ive got a pretty nasty problem, I wanted to completely reinstall XP pro on formatted 160GB seagate disk but...I normally use bios boot order CD-ROM, HDD0,floppy..installation starts to run from CD everything seems ok, get past the drivers installation and then goes to format and copying system files itself...restarts, but then no matter what I do I cant make it to boot it from HDD...

I tried to change the cables, I tried to use "bootcfg /rebuild" command by recovery console, I tried 3 different HDDs, I tried to flash new bios from 1006 to 1009, I got HDD switched to Master. My PC specs are Athlon XP 2500+, 2x 512GB RAM A-DATA, Geforce 6600GT TDH, MB ASUS A7N8X-X.

My conclusion is the MBs IDE conductor or something like that is screwed. Can U pls help me from this mess?

Hi there adonai, welcome to PC Help Forum.

Before we worry about the motherboard, is there any way that you can carry out the install (just to test) with another hard drive..any hard drive will do at this time...although, is that Seagate a SATA?

Hi again and thanks for reply

actually i made install to work on my older seagate ata/100 80gigs, but here comes another problem...When I plug in the second HD same as above but 160gigs as slave(switched properly) to its connector, i got something like power supply failures cause I can hear how HD will stop spinning and then freeze. Maybe the conductor or some MB power supply problem? I tried my friends ata/133 400gigs and same thing happen...Im running out of ideas there.
