It does give you the option to back up your registry as well.
Oh -- I agree that CCleaner is a great app-- I think I had one issue when one of my programs got damaged when I used it's registry cleaner-- but I could not be sure if it was the cause. And
naturally that was the one time that I clicked "no" on the backup-- so I guess it was partly my own fault
