Zone alarm and buddies mess up
Okay... this will be a bit hard to describe. I have Win 2000 running, and I have Zone Alarm 7 as a firewall, Symantec Antivirus 8.0 as virus protection (never had problems with that one). I had no problem with Zone either untill I installed DRIV3R (car game). Then, every once in a while (sometimes several times during one day of use, other times it worked fine for days) an error message appears: "Vsmon.exe has generated errors and will be shut dorn by windows." When this appears, things ae quite easy... I just say OK, then ZA restores itself in about a minute. The other kind of error message says "The True Vector has shut down, d you wish to restart it?" This is even easier, I just say yes, and everything is cool and fancy. But things much worse happen nowdays...
Type 1: All of a sudden all internet related programs (MSN Messenger, Google sidebar, IE) freeze, and cannot be closed, saying it is being debugged, and if I want to close it, I should try the debugger first. But task manager doesn't even appear (sometimes the tray freezes too), so I don't have a chance on finding it between the processes.
Type 2: Zone Alarm (while not working, with the yellow cross on red background appearing on the tray) holds all internet related stuff, causing them to freeze.
And in both cases, if I would want to start MSconfig, my only hope, (to either shut down ZA, or MDM, the debugger) it says "Access to the following path, device or file is denied". It says this to everyting I wish to run, starting from right click:desctop properties, to a simple Windows Explorer. So i'm in a trap. I can't close the ruddy thing that's holding the system, I can't open something I could close it with, and I can't even log off, or shut down properly, because after it finished shutting down al the programs still functioning on the tray, it has the frozen program left, and it can do nothing with it. It idles, and doesn't continiue in the process of shutting down. So can anyone help me, or atleast does anyone else have similar problems?
Thanks in advance!
