Default Recover Win Xp

Hi all -

I would like to restore my computer to it's original factory state. I have searched the forums, but haven't seen any posts with my concerns.

I have a Windows XP Media Center SP2 build 2600, edition 2005. It's from Gateway and came with a Recover Pro disc (which the dog ate), and an Operating System Disc.

I've contacted Gateway to get a replacement Recover Pro @ $35.00.

Now - Will the Recover Pro return my 'puter to original state? Will it free up memory in my hard drive?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for any assistance.

Hi there, the disc you need for this task, is the Operating System Disc. The Recover Pro is likely to be all the drivers and additional software that were bundled with your PC when you purchased it.

Thanks MadGamer for the reply. I have the OS disc, but I will probably need the Recover Pro as well. I want to completely clean my pc and start over. (Know enough about my computer to get me into trouble, but not enough to get me out!!!)

After I have started from scratch, I'll make my back up copies etc. Then post a note: "Leave well enough alone!"

Thanks again

If you want to, you can proceed with the install of Windows now, and when your Pro Update CD arrives, install Software and drivers from that.

Thanks again!! I'm going to order the Recovery Disc and then do the install when I get it.
In the meantime, I won't "play" around with the computer - I've done enough damage as it is.

Again, Thanks!!!
