Sorry if someone's already posted about this, but here goes..... (You should also know that I'm a comlete PC biff so please use layman's terms).

My wife likes to shop online. A problem recently started where if she clicks on a link to add something to her basket, it fails to connect and we get a screen saying there is a connection problem. However, if she right-clicks the link and selects "open in new window", it works. Can anyone help please? I'm sure it's probably something I've done inadvertantly, or something I've downloaded, but I need to sort it or I'm going to be rationed on the old nuptials for the rest of eternity!!!

Did you install or update a pop-up stopper? This might be part of your antivirus program...Nortan can cause this window from popping up. Look at the bottom right of your computer to see what is blocking the pop-ups...

Tried that and it's not it..... Just running AVG, SuperAntispy and Hijack this, so I should have the logs soon.......

When this happens do you see a little prompt on your IE [are you using IE 6 or 7 or firefox?] That says a popup has been blocked. It maybe an IE setting. Go to tools options block popup windows in content for firefox...and uncheck block popups.
