Wink Windows XP Home Edition Activation (Lost Product Key)

Hi,

I have recently carried out a complete system restore using the restore discs provided on purchasing the computer nearly 5 years ago now! The Product Key is entered although when you click update on the product key entry screen on the product activation window, it says there is an error with the product key. Now the problem is is that I no longer have the original e-Machines tower casing from when the computer was manufactured, and the product key is not printed on the restore cd case as it should be, e-Machines have chosen not to print it on here, clever! I therefore have no way of checking off to ensure that my Product Key is correct. I have contacted Microsoft and had no luck and am waiting now, hoping that e-Machines come back to me with a response regarding a re-issue of the Product Key. If this fails, does anyone know where I can obtain a new product key free of charge from. I basically want to use the old computer for "messing around", e.g. playing games on so I don't block up and crash my old computer with the Sims, Lol.

If someone could help me on this issue, please feel free to email me on (Moderator Edit: (MadGamer): Email address removed, you'll be open to spam if you publish it on a public site or forum such as this.) I simply just want to be able to use the old computer for games on so on, not internet or serious work stuff at all, just a mess around toy!

Thanks,

Mark. G.

Hi Mark, unfortunately if e-machines cant help you then you will have to buy a new copy of Windows. I think an OEM Copy (which is what e-machines will have used originally) is about £65
