Question wireless laptop won't connect to the Internet

I'm using a Dell Latitude D820 running Win XP sp2. I have used the built-in wireless network connection before to access the Internet. Now for some reason, it won't work. The laptop does not see any wireless networks within range when I know that there is a wireless network in range (I have another laptop that can connect wirelessly).

I seem to recall when this happened before, I have to stop and then restart the wireless service (?) but I can't remember how to do this. Any suggestions?

thanks..................matt

To stop the wireless connection go to Control Panel/Network Connections/ then RightClick your wireless connection and select Disable.

In the past I have had a similar problen with a corrupted wireless driver. If you go into Device Manager and remove the driver for the Wireless Adapter and then Restart the laptop it will reinstall the driver and it should then work ok.

Hi BluesMatt.

Try this repair utility:
WinSock XP Fix 1.2
|MG| WinSock XP Fix 1.2

Also try this:

Start > Run > cmd > OK
> netsh winsock reset catalog

> netsh int reset all

> ipconfig /flushdns
