I'm having trouble with IE 7 and Firefox on my laptop. Everytime I open them up, I can't load any page. It has the message "this page cannot be displayed". I'm not sure why. I'm pretty sure the internet is working because I can download songs in Itunes and in the cmd I've pinged google and yahoo and there's no info packets lost and there is a gateway and IP address. I've checked the security setting in IE 7 and there at "default" and I've even turned off the securitysoftware on the computer so it won't restrict any software trying to access the internet.
I have 2 laptops and the other one works fine (it's older than the one with the problem) so I'm pretty sure I have all my wireless settings set up correctly. Does anyone have any suggestions on what else to check out to see what's wrong? Maybe I'm overlooking something.

Sounds like it could be a DNS issue. Try the following;

Start > run > type cmd (enter) > type ipconfig /flushdns (enter).

Re-boot and test your browser.

I apologize for posting this thread because I was looking through some older threads after I posted this and someone else had the same problem and it was resolved by "madmonkey". I followed those steps and it works fine now. This website has got to be the best site out there for computer problems and questions.
