Default More Wireless Woe

Hopefully someone can help me with my situation

I recently bought a new MacBook, and when I went to connect up to my wireless network I had discovered that I had forgotten the network password. So this was a bit of a **** up on my part. Fortunately, someone near my house has an unsecured network, which I decided to leech with my laptop until I could get the problem sorted.

Finally, the pain of frustratingly slow downloads on the laptop forced me to try and fix my wireless network. So I (foolishly) tried to set up a new network on my main pc connected to the router, thinking that I would be able to set a new password. I tried to do this, but it said something about using a USB flash drive connection with my router, which I don't think my router has, so this ended up in a failure.

However, when I tried to access my network from the pc in my room, I was unable to connect :s I think that I have screwed it up bigtime because now whenever I try to connect to the network my pc just automatically reboots itself. This is bad because I fear my files are getting damaged with these constant unexpected shutdowns. Even trying to connect to the unprotected network in the area results in my pc crashing.

I think it has something to do with the wireless LAN card because whenever it is plugged in things always seem to go wrong, so I have removed it for the time being.

What I am asking is either;
How can I fix my current problem?
or
How do I set up a new wireless network that will work?
or, if it comes to it,
How do I reformat my C: drive?

Many thanks in advance

Is there any way in which you can check what your wireless network password is in the internet options on the computer hooked up to the router? I think if I could remember what it was I might be able to make some progress

What is strange is that my network is being recognized by both my Laptop and my Wireless network reciever on my pc, it is simply the fact that I can't connect to it that is bugging me :s

A bit of help on wireless network setup would be much appreciated

Hi there,

It sounds as though your network drivers are possibly causing your PC to re-boot. Try starting the PC in safe-mode and uninstalling (either) the drivers/software for the network card or the card itself, in Device Manager. When you have removed the software, go to another PC and download the latest drivers for the card - then burn them to disc and be ready to be prompted for them when you re-start that other PC in "normal" Windows mode.
