I recently bought a new MacBook, and when I went to connect up to my wireless network I had discovered that I had forgotten the network password. So this was a bit of a **** up on my part. Fortunately, someone near my house has an unsecured network, which I decided to leech with my laptop until I could get the problem sorted.
Finally, the pain of frustratingly slow downloads on the laptop forced me to try and fix my wireless network. So I (foolishly) tried to set up a new network on my main pc connected to the router, thinking that I would be able to set a new password. I tried to do this, but it said something about using a USB flash drive connection with my router, which I don't think my router has, so this ended up in a failure.
However, when I tried to access my network from the pc in my room, I was unable to connect :s I think that I have screwed it up bigtime because now whenever I try to connect to the network my pc just automatically reboots itself. This is bad because I fear my files are getting damaged with these constant unexpected shutdowns. Even trying to connect to the unprotected network in the area results in my pc crashing.
I think it has something to do with the wireless LAN card because whenever it is plugged in things always seem to go wrong, so I have removed it for the time being.
What I am asking is either;
How can I fix my current problem?
or
How do I set up a new wireless network that will work?
or, if it comes to it,
How do I reformat my C: drive?
Many thanks in advance
