Have just remembered I also downloaded MWsnap which is a screen capture programme.
Could this be where the area above the start bar containing the word <menuitem came from? |

Hi again. I have found that on opening either IE or Google don't have the problem. this suggests Firefox is my problem. I will uninstall and re-install Firefox to see if all is well.
