Default Errors

Hi all,
New here and to all this computer stuff but I have been to several of these forums but I haven't gotten anywhere. I started having trouble a few weeks ago the first thing was sometimes when I rebooted I would get the no operating system found it would even reboot it self sometimes right in the middle of something. I ran the software that goes with my HD it failed so I replaced the HD. I haven't got the no operating system found sense then but the other problems are still here. When I reboot now I have to hit the F2 key or it wont sign into windows, I get an error on my mouse and my floppy drive. The window says mouse initialized but has error underneath it, the floppy says 2BO: Diskette Drive A error that's all it say's about either one. I replaced the HD, I totally replaced the floppy and the ribbon. I went to driveragent.com and downloaded all my drivers sense I am using windows XP instead of restore disk. I ran the Memtest86 for hours to make sure my ram wasn't bad it passed, I dont know how to tell what else it could be. I am disabled I spend most of my time by myself so my computer is my best friend and when it's not working right I go crazy. I cant afford a new system hell I couldn't afford to replace the other stuff but I really thought that would fix the problem. I am really desperate here any suggestions on why I am getting the error on my mouse and floppy, Thank you.

Howdy kharley,

Sounds like something in your BIOS (basic input output) is screwy.. When booting up press del or F2 to get into your bios (they key is different for each pc manufacturer) You will see a bunch of stuff. What I wold like you to look for is "Load Fail Safe Defaults"

Then reboot. Lets see if it is that to begin with.

Hi kharley.

The variety of seemingly unrelated problems happening suggests that there is one or more underlying hardware problems.

Bad (i.e., Marginal) or Underpowered Power Supply

Voltages on the vast majority of PCs can be observed easily with either of these 2 free utilities:
SpeedFan, Everest Home 2.20
Allowable voltage ranges:
+3.3: 3.1V to 3.5v
+5: 4.7V to 5.3V
+12: 11.4V to 12.6V
Sometimes during heavy PC usage such as playing games with high powered video cards the PS can’t keep up with the demand and the voltages dip below acceptable levels. In this particular case a more powerful supply is needed. Often these video card manufacturers give specific guidelines about choosing a suitable supply. Even though an under-powered supply is not defective the cure is the same as if it were.

Overheating CPU

CPU and usually motherboard temps on the vast majority of PCs can be observed easily with either of these 2 free utilities:
SpeedFan, Everest Home 2.20
The CPU and motherboard temps should always be below 50C.

Those are within range and are pretty descent.

When you get into your BIOS.. It will be a blue screen with some options like System time, advanced BIOS settings etc..

On the right hand side (when you first go into the BIOS) you will see
Save and Exit
Load optimal Defaults
Load fail safe defaults..
You will want to click the number that corresponds to the Load fail safe defaults.. The you will want to press F10 to save and exit..
Or what you can do, (make sure you will not void your warranty) is open your case and look for as little silver battery that looks like a watch battery only bigger. Take it out for a couple seconds and put it back in.. Everything will go back to Default then. You will have to set the time again though..

Also Make sure your computer is off when doing this
