Default Volume display won't go away

Okay, so this problem is hard to explain so I'll show a picture.

When I press the volume up or down button on my laptop, this ugly, big volume bar and label is displayed, along with the small nice volume bar in the corner (courtesy of a microsoft keyboard software). I need to know where the setting is to turn off this big volume display (not the small one, I like that). That would be awesome. It's really annoying.

Have you tried restarting? So at least everything shuts off for a moment to re-set.

I wrote the title wrong, sorry. It's not that it won't "go away" per se. It comes on for a couple seconds when I push the volume up or down and then goes away, in that sense. I just want to know what setting is causing the anoying, large volume display to come up when I push the volume up or volume down. I only want the small volume display in the corner of the picture to come up. Thanks

The big volume bar is being run by your keyboard or keyboard+mouse driver. Uninstalling that driver will make the volume bar stay away.

If you installed an aftermarket keyboard then you may have installed the driver along with it. Otherwise, the keyboard driver was pre-installed on the PC for the keyboard that came with it.
