i dont know if i am inm the right forum bit or not but anyways

i have a foxconn motherboard n570sm2aa-8ekrs2h, AMD dual core 6000+ 3.0ghz, 2gb RAM, geforce 8600 gt graphics card
i have installed windows xp (couple of different copies now)

Welcome to PC Help Forum.

Let's eliminate a RAM issue. Please download and run this: Memtest86+ - Advanced Memory Diagnostic Tool - it will take some time BUT it will tell us if your problem is related to memory.

Let's approach this from a different angle - can you check with your PC manufacturers website for a bios firmware update before we try anything else.
