I have been looking at a PC for a friend. It had various issues/problems, most of which I think (hope!) I've ironed out. However... occasionally it will boot so far and then reset, without throwing up any blue screen or other information on screen. This happens maybe 1-2 boots out of 10.
The only other strange thing I've found that could be related is that when you turn on the power at the rear of the case, the fan spins briefly as if the system is going to start up, then stops. When you then start it up via the button on the front, it boots normally.
The PC is a Fujitsu Siemens system, AMD 1500, running XP with 512+256 MB of RAM.
Any ideas?! Thanks in advance and sorry for the somewhat vague description, not sure how to explain it more clearly.

Hello Lordretsudo
Welcome to PCHF ![]() Next time it bootloops, keep hitting F8 over and over till you get the boot options menu. Select "Disable automatic restart on system failure." Hit enter and then just let the unit boot normally. Hopefully it will error out again and show you the blue screen. If not, just keep rebooting till it has a problem...hopefully it stays as disabling auto restart. If you do get to see the bluescreen, note it in this thread and I will try to research it for you. When a unit bootloops, it does bluescreen, you just don't see it cause its default is set to automatically reboot if an error occurs. As far as the fan spinning up for a sec when you turn on the power supply power, that is a normal occurence for lots of PSUs. Nothing to worry about....unless the machine does start booting, then stops. But if the fan just runs for a sec after you hit the switch, then stops, that is perfectly normal. Hope that helps!
