Default Create Win XP CD from files on my hard drive

I want to create a bootable Win XP CD from the set up files on my computer.

My school gives me access to a folder on their network which has all the winxp setup files and the serial key. But I am in a situation where I need to put a cd in and win xp should fire up automatically. This is because I am installing win xp using parallels on my new mac and it asks me to insert winxp cd or direct the software to the XP image file!!!

So I need to create a winxp cd from the files that I have on my computer or make an ISO image.

Can anybody please help me

Thanks

I'm sorry, but creating a bootable XP install CD can't be done by either using a slipstreaming method or by copying files from your installation. If this were true everyone and their aunt Susie would be making copies for themselves.

Slipstreaming starts with an XP Installation CD's \I366 folder and updates the installer program to a newer service pack or adds hotfixes/updates to it to save installation time during the next reinstall. A really smart slipstreaming tool like nLite can also preset a lot of settings that you would have to do manually just after a reinstall.

I beg to differ sir-- I know of people personally who have done it-- several of them regular visitors here

tis perfectly legal "for your own use only"

Yes. Bart's PE Builder (Bart's Preinstalled Environment (BartPE) bootable live windows CD/DVD) will do it from an XP installation CD. But, to quote from Mr. Lagerweij's site : "according to the Microsoft EULA for Windows XP/2003, a user may not simultaneously use more installations of these operating systems than the user has license(s) for. This also goes for BartPE." So using a "homemade" bootable XP CD for a vitual OS is NOT legal unless you have a license for it. Using one to restore a corrupted system is the intended use for this.

These matters are under legal review from all angles in about a thousand places.

As for me--
If I own a legally purchased copy of an Operating System.

I am making a slipstreamed copy for my own use and ONLY that purpose.

The copy is merely to make a reinstall go more smoothly-- or to repair that existing installation--or to avoid having to run Windows Update 140 times.

I do not use it on another PC-- or redistribute it in any way shape or form.

Then I see absolutely no issue-- whether the lawyers agree or not.

I do not steal-- nor do I support those who do.

I actively discourage "warez" sites/use of illegal copies of software...

but the day I can't make a copy of something I legally paid for will be a frosty day in Hades...period.
And before anyone scolds me-- I DO understand the legal technicalitites-- that I only Own a "license to use" the software-- not the program itself...
I'm just not about to put up with a pile of a_ _l-retentive BS in order to abide by foolish and counterproductive rules.
