Default My computer don't show up in the home network

Hi!
Have a small network at home.
One switch that connects the server and my desktop. The laptop is connected wireless.
When I try to look at the net - I can't from the desktop, but the laptop shows itself and the server, but not the desktop.
I've tried several times to set up the desktop as a network member, but it just won't work.
I had Norton Internet security installed but that is now gone. Can there be anything left that stops the computer to reach the server. By the way - Internet works - and that goes through the server.
Any ideas?

Hi!

Did you check the name of the workgroup? This name has to be the same at all computers...

You don't need to get rid of Norton Internet Security in order to get your network working smoothly...

Seems to me it could be a firewall problem on your desktop puter.

This could be either due to your windows firewall settings or due to stuff that remains from NIS. To exclude the latter you should make sure to use the Norton Removal Tool in order to get rid of all files connected to Norton.
Here's the removal tool:
Download and run the Norton Removal Tool

But really, since you already have NIS, I'd recommend keeping it and just set your home network as a secure network within the NIS firewall and things should be fine.

Has that tip worked about setting your home network as a secure network within the NIS firewall?
That would have been my guess too.
