Default Monitoring kids chat rooms

I just uninstalled Myspace from my granddaughters cpu. That leaves Yahoo and MSN that she is chatting on. At a meeting at school we were told that a log is kept on chats and since I have two computers on a DSL router I can be an administrator and see everything on them if I know how to set it up. HELP is not helping me much. Also I don't want to password myself out of my own computer. How can I help protect her from the jerks out there who know all the stuff I don't know and would prey on her?
Thanks

Default Re: Monitoring kids chat rooms

You can install a chatroom monitor on you pc. If you do a "google" there are loads, unfortunately I cant find a free one. Chatrooms by there open nature will always contain a proportion of idiots. It would be impossible to totaly protect her, but educating her about what to do if they appear is the key. Goto/internet option/content advisor, click on the "enable" button. A further screen will appear where you can adjust what level of content you want for internet advisor. while this wont effect the chatrooms content it should prevent children form accessing less favourable sites.
