Default [Pending] No Sound

Hi,
I have no sound at all on my computer. I have an on board sound system (Nvidia Nforce 2 motherboard).

I have checked and done all the following:
- checked that nothing was on "mute"
- updated the drivers
- checked different outputs (headphones, stereo, ...)
- Re-installed Windows
- bought a new sound card (Creative Sound Blaster Audigy LS)

Before installing the new sound card, i could open any player (Winamp, WMP, iTunes, ...) and it would play, everything would work, BUT i wouldnt get any sound out!

I have now installed the sound card, all went well but this appears when i attempt to play something:

I have also tried with another sound card: same problem.

I am starting to get quite annoyed with this and i really hope one of you farkers can help me out or direct me to another, more appropriate forum.

cheers

Hi cdfeto. When you reinstall the OS the installer may not have a driver for the sound card or chip.

With most sound plug-in boards and motherboard chips there needs to be a driver installed. The SoundBlaster comes with a driver disc. I'm sure that other board has one, too.

Hi welcome to the forum here's what other people have done to fix this. sorry about he test it pasted like that

To run audio again do the following: GO TO THE START MENU THEN CLICK RUN. IN THE BOX TYPE IN services.msc A SCREEN WILL POP UP. THEN SCROLL DOWN TO window audio AND CLICK ON IT. RIGHT NOW IT IS OFF SO CLICK START TO TURN IT ON. THIS WILL SOLVE THE AUDIO PROBLEM 99 PERCENT OF THE TIME.

Also checkControl Panel and double-clicked on "Sounds and Multimedia". Click the AUDIO tab, and make sure that your sound card is selected in the dropdown window as the preferred device for sound playback

some people have fixed it buy rolling back to the previous version of sound driver

Firthly: tried that services.msc, but it was started ... it stopped it and strated it again, and it still doesnt work.

When i open the "Sounds and Multimedia" and then the AUDIO tab, i cannot chose from the optiond for the "Sound playback default devise" nor the "Sound recording Default device", and the "MIDI music playback default device" only has one option: "MPU-401".
