Dear Sir/Madam

My pc operates on Windows XP and Microsoft Office 2000.

My daughter has just purchased a brand new lap top that uses Windows Vista and Microsoft Office 2007.

I have tried to transfer word documents from her laptop to mine via:
cd rom
Kingston Memory
MSN Messenger sharing file.

Every time I transfer they become gobbbledy **** on my pc.

I notice that her word documents are XPS documents. Is this the problem.

I am not conversant with Vista/Office 2007. Please help.


Unfortunately her laptop does not have a floppy disc facility, which would have been the simplest method of transfer data/files etc.

How do I transfer word files from my daughter's laptop to my pc?

Who would be a father who struggles with computers in this pc age?

Hi there, if you have some spare Ethernet cable laying around connect one end to the desktop PC and the other end to the laptop and then run the files and settings transfer wizrd (doesnt matter which PC you use) and it will ask you what you want to transfer.

I have a video on youtube which might give you the instruction on how to save from 2007 to 93-2003 format, which will convert those 2007 documents into office 2000 compatible docs.

Hi justjohnnygo.

The easiest way to read these files is to install the viewer from MS. Since your PC is running Word 2003 it does not have the ability to read this format.

I think the full package will modify Word 2003 to allow it to read and write this new format - I'm not sure about this, though.
