Default Com Port 3 Problems...

ok i found out what the problem is! com port 3 is having an error.
here what it sez. Windows cannot determine the settings for this device.
Consult your documentation that came with the device *exuse me smarty pants computer.
ITS A PORT IT DONT GOT NO MANUAL. sometimes technology SUCKS.
Use the resourse tab to set the configuration where woudl this be? i didnt see one on the hardware wizard.error code 34. tell me how to fix this, then i presume u add the modem to the list and then run the ISP provider cd again to see if it can detect a connection. OR if i could switch the port from 3 to 2 on my computer only because their is 3 comps connected to the modem.

In Windows a "port" often does not mean a physical plug-- either in your computer or in your modem-- there are also "software ports" that are part of Windows... you printer usually runs on one of these imaginary ports.
In this case I would try running the setup disc for your modem--there are hundreds of these ports in Windows

see here:

TCP/IP Ports

HI XPforever.
What is this error in reference to?
What are you trying to do that gives you this error?
Most modern day computers come with COM1 and LPT1. COM3 is usually an internal dialup modem.

ok i have this old modem from an old computer that i might replace mine from and see if that fixes it. that computer also had the same problem. man i suck with viruses...
if that doesnt work ill buy a new internal modem, and i KNOW that will fix it.
